Beaches/Harbour
Lane End beach is just a minute’s walk away and whilst largely shingle it also has sandy areas. As the tide recedes rock pools are revealed, providing hours of fun of shrimping and crabbing. Lane End Beach is nestled between Forelands Beach and Bembridge Beach (which runs to the edge of Bembridge Harbour), and makes for a wonderful walk along all three. The Lifeboat View café at Lane End beach provides ice creams as well as meals and refreshments and the iconic RNLI lifeboat station is located here – don’t miss their training launches at 6pm on Tuesdays.
With 57 miles of varied coastline, the island has a fantastic array of beaches to suit all tastes; head to Sandown or Appley Beach for miles of golden sand, Seagrove Bay for a glimpse of some of the most impressive beachside properties, or join the surfers at Compton Bay. Many of the beaches are dog-friendly year round.
